Job summary

The University Career Services department at Perimeter Campus is seeking a Career and Employer Relations Specialist (Temp) to help students and recent alumni explore career options, clarify goals, and connect with employers for internships and full-time opportunities.

Reporting to the Assistant Director, you will deliver career counseling, create presentations, develop partnerships with campus and employer groups, and coordinate events such as job fairs and panels on Clarkston campus and nearby

Qualifications

  • Master's degree and at least three years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of general job search strategies, advanced customer service and hospitality skills, problem-solving, public speaking, training.
  • Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide career counseling, career exploration, and career search strategies to individual students and in groups.
  • Develop and conduct career-related presentations for academic classes, student organizations, and other related campus units using a variety of delivery formats.
  • Promote partnerships, collaborations, and positive relationships to promote the work of university career services to faculty and staff across the Perimeter College campuses and Georgia State community.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers.
  • Mount career-related events such as career and job fairs, panels, and networking to connect students with employers.
  • Develop career services and career counseling approaches for underrepresented student populations, including but not limited to students, non-traditional students, veterans, and returning students.
  • Collaborate with faculty, administrators, and college departments to identify, define, and meet student career planning and career search needs, including setting student success goals and objectives.
  • Contribute to the identification, analysis, and assessment of student success outcomes. Maintain accurate student records and collect data for reporting purposes while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Oversee special programs, retention projects, and activities as assigned.
  • Participate fully in the overall activities of university career services.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Career and Employer Relations Specialist works with students and employers on the Perimeter Campuses. Reporting to the Assistant Director of University Career Services, the Career and Employer Relations Specialist will provide career counseling and other programming to assist students and recent alumni with clarification of educational goals and career selection that supports their career pursuits. In addition, this role works with employers to connect students with job opportunities. This position will work specifically on the Clarkston campus and also support the other Perimeter campuses as needed.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Master's degree and three years of related experience or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Requirements:
  • Knowledge of general job search strategies, advanced customer services and hospitality skills, problem-solving, public speaking, training, proficiency with database management software, and the ability to communicate effectively (writing, listening, and speaking).
  • Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel
