Job description

Job Summary

Provides a variety of services, which are part of the functions of the Career Services Center. Assist in the implementation, scheduling, preparation, and coordination of all activities. Collects, tallies, and submits data on placement activities. Assists in the development and implementation of statistical and demographic data on students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serves as liaison between employers and Central State University.
  • Coordinates recruiting dates and schedules and arranges office visits for companies and other hiring entities.
  • Develops and maintains files of placement credentials on students and alumni and sends job referrals to alumni.
  • Provides resumes and/or data sheets on students to employer representatives.
  • Advises and counsels students regarding employment opportunities and careers.
  • Assists in resume preparation and interviewing techniques.
  • Prepares co‑op, internship and prospective graduates for interviews (e.g., interview sign‑up, recruiting packet, and other employment‑related information).
  • Conducts career‑related seminars, information sessions and departmental programs.
  • Monitors and maintains the career library and technology center.
  • Writes and sends memorandums and other correspondence.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be able to project a positive image of the University.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills.
  • Experience in programming special events.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; ability to operate and interpret career planning‑related software.
  • Experience in career services office.
Minimum Qualifications
  • The ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders including students, faculty, alumni, employers, and community leaders.
  • The ability to formulate and execute strategic plans that align with the university’s goals for career development and employer engagement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. The role requires constant interaction with diverse groups, requiring clarity, persuasiveness, and the ability to present tailored messages to different audiences.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. This includes planning events such as career fairs, workshops, and networking events, as well as managing the logistics of internship placements and ongoing employer relations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Word; ability to operate and interpret career planning‑related software.
  • Chaperones students attending events, conferences and workshops with national organizations.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a team environment in higher education/workforce development or community engagement focused on skill development.
  • Proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and reporting data to monitor program effectiveness and make informed decisions.
  • Proficiency with various social media platforms, including IG, X, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
