Job summary

Career Team is seeking a Career Advisor for Choices / SNAP / NCP to provide career counseling, intensive case management, and follow-up services to eligible participants. The role focuses on guiding jobseekers toward employment and training goals while removing barriers and ensuring compliant case management.

Position is full-time and onsite in Deep East Texas. Requires strong communication, data-entry skills, and knowledge of relevant programs; benefits include healthcare and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills and knowledge about community resources.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make well-thought-out decisions.
• Computer literate with MS Word and Excel skills at a minimum, and the ability to learn specialized databases and software systems.
• Ability to work in a variety of settings with a culturally diverse customer base and be culturally sensitive.
• Ability to serve as a role model to customers and motivate them toward achieving goals.
• Ability to meet and exceed set goals and objectives.
• Excellent interpersonal, time management, customer service, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written).
• Knowledge of the Choices / SNAP / NCP programs and other workforce program requirements.
• A demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient, and maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
• A Valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Provide information and case management services to community members interested in workforce services.
• Complete intake and eligibility determination for the Choices / SNAP / NCP.
• Assess jobseekers' employment, abilities, and training needs through interviewing, testing, and other methods.
• Serve as a liaison between workforce development programs and community partners and resources.
• Enter data into Work In Texas and process clients through any participant information system as required.
• Stay on top of labor market trends and best practices in career and training paths.
• Counsel clients on available job opportunities, training programs, and other services.
• Refer individuals to appropriate services, training programs, or job opportunities and follow up on those activities.
• Conduct orientation sessions, workshops, job clubs, and other group presentations for clients.
• Assist participants in removing barriers to employment and training.
• Follow all policies, procedures, and regulations related to eligibility documentation.
• Maintain accurate individual case files in Work In Texas for each registered customer, ensuring each file contains all required eligibility documents and meets compliance requirements.
• Meet and/or exceed program benchmarks and participate in all staff-related events as required, including training, staff meetings, and individual supervision.
• Complete all required reports within the data management system.
• Approach each day and task with a "ZAG" mindset
• Other duties and projects as needed
