Career Advisor

The Career Advisor provides individualized coaching, mentoring, and guidance to help employees identify strengths, set goals, and create actionable career plans. This role supports employees with career exploration, resume development, interview preparation, educational planning, tuition assistance programs, and advancement opportunities.

The Career Advisor also builds partnerships with colleges, trade schools, workforce development organizations, and community partners to expand opportunities for employee success. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys traveling throughout Washington State and around the country, building relationships, and helping others reach their full potential.

Location: Bremerton, Washington

Type: Non-Exempt

Compensation: $28.50 - $39.18 per hour (The targeted salary range for this role is between $36.00 - $38.46 per hour.)

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm (flexible start and end times depending on scheduling needs)

As a Career Advisor, you'll... Career Advisor's collaborate with Tessera's functional/operational managers and vocational department to promote career pathways and development for all employees in the Washington State Region of Tessera. These efforts include working with and supporting employees with Employee Career Plans (ECPs) and other career services such as resume writing/updating, interview techniques, creating/updating LinkedIn profiles and job searching.

The Career Advisor utilizes and educates employees about the Tuition Assistance (TA) program at Tessera. This includes the coordinated marketing of the program and sharing of success stories with the Marketing / Communications department. They are responsible for seeking and developing external partnerships with the community to develop workforce development plans and establish and maintain employment pipelines in the Washington State regions of Tessera. This includes working closely with high school transitions programs, colleges, government organizations, and other mission aligned non-profit.

This position travels to sites in Washington State and other locations around the country 6 weeks per year to educate employees about all career services available and reinforce the employee support culture.

Provide individualized career guidance, advising, and coaching to employees with the goal of helping employees individually identify their career plans and trajectory.

Advise, mentor, and support Tessera employees through the Employee Career Plan process; Insert ECPs into Workday, maintain these plans and follow up with employees on their career development progression and goals.

Schedule employee meetings and input ECPS or case-notes about employee interactions in Workday.

Work with employees who want access to TA. This includes completing an ECP with all applicants, assisting employees to apply for TA and following up with employees who use TA to obtain all required documents (Receipts, transcripts, etc.). Communicate all TA information with the Career Services Supervisor.

Teach and mentor employees through the process of writing resumes, applying for jobs, creating LinkedIn profiles and preparing for interviews.

Facilitate career assessments (World of Work Inventory -WOWI) to assist employees in identifying strengths and possible career options related to their abilities.

Guide employees through the application process for technical schools, college, or other university programs.

Assist employees with applying for financial aid (FAFSA), scholarships, and other types of financial assistance.

Work with student employees to access disability services and assist with educational planning at their college/ school.

Research and explore career paths, certifications, technical trades, college, and university programs.

Build and Maintain partnerships with community colleges, trade schools, and universities near our sites in Washington so that you can match our employees with programs that are a good fit.

Network with state and federal Workforce Development and career pathways stakeholders.

Network with local high schools and youth programs. Work with site leadership to provide job shadows, site tours, and internship opportunities for students interested in the trades.

Assist employees with information and applying for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) to alleviate college debts for employees.

Work with the tech trades department to create strategies while working with site leadership to \"grow our own\" particularly within Total Facility Maintenance sites where the average age of our trades workers is over 55.
