Job summary

Canyon-View-Care-Center-1 in Palisade, CO is seeking a Cook to prepare, cook, season, and serve nutritious meals for residents according to menus and dietary guidelines. The role requires adhering to recipes, maintaining food safety, and managing portions while minimizing waste.

You will work with other kitchen staff to ensure meals are attractive and served on schedule. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, prior dining service experience in a senior care setting, and a Serve Safe

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in the dining department of a senior care community preferred.
• Able to prepare and cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
• Knowledge of special diets, seasoning requirements and cooking times.
• Ability to estimate quantities, limit waste and utilize leftovers.

Responsibilities

• Handle and prepare food that is palatable, appetizing and attractive.
• Establish practice of serving hot food hot and cold food cold.
• Cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
• Be familiar with seasoning and cooking time required.
• Prepare foods for cooking: vegetables, meat, fish and fowl.
• Cook foods: bake, roast, stew and steam as needed.
• Prepare cold meats, sandwiches, and beverages.
• Use initiative to minimize waste and reuse leftovers.
• Follow standard recipes and maintain safety practices.
