Gateway Services is seeking a Care Center Manager in Portland to lead a frontline team, manage daily operations and drive performance across safety, service and cost control. You’ll coach staff, use KPIs to improve productivity and collaborate with sales and veterinary partners to strengthen client relationships.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, data-driven decision making, and accountability while maintaining a caring, compliant care center environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education preferred.
• 3–5+ years of supervisory or operations leadership experience.
• Experience in service, production, manufacturing, logistics, or distribution operations.
• Proven success leading frontline teams and improving performance.
• Comfort using KPIs, budgets, labor information and financial results to guide decisions.
• Strong communication, organization, judgment and problem-solving skills.
• Pet aftercare experience is not required—it’s provided via industry training.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day operation and the overall performance of the Care Center.
• Lead, coach and develop Team Members with a culture of accountability, safety and service.
• Use KPIs and operating data to manage productivity, quality, customer service and on-time delivery.
• Plan labor against daily and weekly demand and ensure the team has tools and resources.
• Manage costs, review P&L performance and contribute to budgets and plans.
• Maintain a safe, compliant, clean and tour-ready Care Center.
• Ensure preventative maintenance, inventory controls and audits are maintained.
• Resolve operational issues quickly and professionally.
• Partner with Sales and Operations leadership to strengthen veterinary customer relationships.
• Drive improvements and close performance gaps against Gateway standards.
• Lead from the floor and support pet aftercare and route activities when needed.
