Job summary

Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield, Wisconsin, seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery team. The NP/PA provides advanced care for adults undergoing CVTS procedures, collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the multidisciplinary team in pre-, intra-, and post‑operative settings.

Responsibilities include preoperative assessments, intraoperative support, postoperative management, discharge planning, and patient education, with on‑call

Responsibilities

• Preoperative assessments and risk stratification.
• Intraoperative and postoperative management of CVTS patients.
• Chest tube removal, wound care, central line removal, and suture/staple removal (as credentialed).
• Manage post‑op complications with surgeon collaboration.
• Order and interpret labs, imaging, and EKGs; initiate interventions.
• Discharge planning including medication reconciliation and patient education.
• Provide handoffs to referring physicians and ensure follow-up.
• Post‑op clinic visits for wound healing and recovery monitoring.
• Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery, lifestyle changes, and cardiac health.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain EMR documentation.
• Stay current with CVTS guidelines and participate in on-call coverage.
