Job Description

Decypher is seeking a Cardiovascular Technician to support Walter Reed National Army Medical Center.

Responsibilities
  1. Meet education, licensing, training, and experience requirements; all documentation must be reviewed prior to start and kept up-to-date in the Joint Training Record (JTR).
  2. Communicate effectively in English with patients and healthcare providers.
  3. Perform duties as scrub assistant, operator of imaging equipment, and circulator during procedures.
  4. Conduct patient assessments, including chief complaint, history of present illness, current medications, and medical history.
  5. Obtain lab work, EKGs, and chest X-rays.
  6. Provide patient teaching, initiate intravenous access, and monitor vital signs.
  7. Utilize aseptic/sterile techniques and perform site prep.
  8. Administer procedural sedation with appropriate documentation and monitoring.
  9. Prepare and administer adjunctive pharmacotherapy as needed.
  10. Perform point-of-care testing and quality assurance testing.
  11. Monitor and document post-recovery patient status.
  12. Maintain emergency procedures and equipment, including ACLS and resuscitation medications.
  13. Operate physiological monitoring equipment and interpret rhythms and waveforms.
  14. Operate radiologic equipment and manage digital imaging data.
  15. Set up for vascular procedures, including use of catheters and blood sampling.
  16. Identify coronary vessels and anatomy, recognize lesions and thrombus, and estimate vessel lumen size.
  17. Operate contrast pressure injectors, differentiate contrast media, and recognize reactions.
  18. Set up and interpret results of intravascular ultrasound and fractional flow reserve.
  19. Manage devices related to foreign body retrieval, intra-aortic balloon pump, coil embolization, and pacemakers.
  20. Support hemostasis methods and support devices.
  21. Prepare for and assist in vascular access procedures.
  22. Recover rooms post-procedure, restock supplies, and maintain sterile equipment.
  23. Assist with patient transportation and support staff orientation.
  24. Participate in on-call teams for urgent procedures.
  25. Complete checklists for readiness and maintain inventory levels.
  26. Ensure emergency equipment is functional and participate in training and competency programs.
Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional degrees (associate, baccalaureate, or master's) from an accredited cardiovascular training program in the U.S. are required.

Certifications: Valid RCIS certification and ACLS certification are required. Proof must be provided prior to employment and at renewal.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a catheterization lab, proficient with diagnostic and interventional procedures and equipment. Ability to learn and perform additional procedures is expected.

Board Certification: None required.

Licensure/Registration: Current, active RCIS certification is required.
