Overview

The hospital offers advanced cardiovascular care, including one of the largest open-heart programs in Florida. The American College of Cardiology has recognized UF Health Leesburg Hospital for its demonstrated expertise and commitment in treating patients with chest pain by awarding a Chest Pain Center Accreditation with Primary PCI and Resuscitation – its highest and best level of accreditation. The hospital also offers world‑class orthopedics, minimally invasive robotic‑assisted surgery, lifesaving emergency care, stroke treatment, labor & delivery, and so much more.

Responsibilities

The EP Lab CVT, under the direction of the director/charge person, monitors procedures, assists physician in a scrub‑assistant role, and circulates to include all diagnostic EP and cardiac ablations procedures, device implants and explants, cardiac cath procedures to ensure safe patient care. This is a prn day shift position.

Qualifications
  • Education
    • Associate's Degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, or Respiratory Therapy
    • In lieu of education requirements, a minimum of five (5) years’ experience and:
    • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) Certification (Required within 12 months of hire) or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) Certification (Required within 12 months of hire)
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration
    • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification (preferred)
    • If no ARRT, then one of the following licenses or certifications:
    • FL Certified Radiologic Technologist license or FL Registered Respiratory Therapist license or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) Certification or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) Certification, or any of the four license/certifications above within 12 months of hire if no degree in the applicable fields
    • BLS required
    • ACLS required
Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience Required
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Minimum 1 year recent experience in Cardiac Cath lab or EP lab.
  • For less than 1 year EP experience, must have graduated from an accredited academic program with a dedicated EP curriculum and successful completion of EP clinical rotations.
  • Must have a strong knowledge base in Electrocardiograms, rhythm analysis, sterile technique, cardiac anatomy, hemodynamics, and radiation protection.
