Job summary

St. Tammany Health System in Covington, LA is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the operating room team. The role supports the RN and scrub procedures, ensuring sterile technique and instrument readiness for invasive procedures.

Work schedule is 40 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, 10:30 am to 7 pm, with on-call requirements and 30-minute in-house availability. Requires hospital experience and BLS certification; CST preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years in a cardiovascular acute hospital setting preferred; one year required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology.
• LPN Licensure (if applicable).
• One year experience preferred or STHS experience through the Surgical Tech Educational affiliate program.
• Acute Care OR preferred.
• Current BLS certification through ILCOR (courses such as Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross). The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.
• Call is required according to unit standards.
• Surgical Technologist must be available in-house within 30 minutes when on call.

Responsibilities

• Surgical Technologists function as scrub person on the surgical team under RN supervision.
• Prepare and handle instrumentation, supplies, and devices for surgical procedures.
• Support sterile technique and patient safety following AORN and professional standards.
