Job summary

Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, VA is seeking a Cardiovascular Surgical Technologist to join the Cardiac Operating Room team. The role focuses on preparing the OR, organizing instruments and supplies, and providing intraoperative support for open-heart, vascular, and thoracic procedures.

The position requires 1 year of cardio/thoracic experience, NBSTSA CST credential, and strong teamwork. Weekend and on-call duties apply, with a comprehensive benefits package and a sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Trade School Graduate preferred.
• NBSTSA certification and Surgical Technologist licensure required if license is required in state of practice; otherwise NBSTSA certification.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries as primary scrub technician.
• Pass instruments, sutures, grafts, and other sterile supplies.
• Maintain sterile technique and infection control throughout the operation.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and nursing staff.
• Handle specimens appropriately and document as required; perform accurate counts with circulator.
• Participate in preoperative briefings and postoperative debriefings to support surgical quality improvement.
