Job summary

Geisinger’s Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery Department is seeking a Physician Assistant to join the department in a per diem capacity located at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. The PA will collaborate with physicians to provide care to new and established patients and perform evaluations, diagnoses, treatment and follow-up care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree-Physician Assistant (Required).
• Master’s Degree-Physician Assistant (Preferred).
• PA must work in collaboration with physicians to provide care and manage patient care plans.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the physician to provide care to new or established patients.
• Demonstrate autonomy through patient evaluation, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care.
• Order testing as needed and interpret results; prescribe appropriate therapy within PA scope.
• Triage, telephone communication and patient education as needed in cooperation with staff.
• Maintain accurate EMR documentation and communicate with patients, PCPs and staff.
