Job summary

Geisinger in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, is seeking a Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Heart Institute at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

You will collaborate with cardiac surgeons and a multidisciplinary team to guide patients from evaluation through postoperative recovery, coordinate preoperative testing and scheduling, and participate in heart-team discussions for valve and structural heart cases.

Qualifications

• Master's degree as a Physician Assistant is required.
• NCCPA certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and prepare patients for cardiothoracic surgery in partnership with cardiac surgeons.
• Coordinate preoperative testing, surgical scheduling, medical clearances, and patient education.
• Manage outpatient referrals and participate in Heart Team discussions for valve and structural heart patients.
• Round on postoperative cardiac surgery patients and assist with ongoing inpatient management.
• Coordinate discharges, follow-up care, and recovery planning.
• Conduct postoperative visits and manage patient questions, phone calls, and portal messages.

Job Summary

Geisinger's Heart Institute is seeking a Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our growing practice at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center located in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania.

Job Duties

Join our collaborative cardiothoracic surgery team and play a key role in guiding patients through every stage of their surgical journey, from initial evaluation to postoperative recovery.

• Evaluate and prepare patients for cardiothoracic surgery in partnership with cardiac surgeons.
• Coordinate preoperative testing, surgical scheduling, medical clearances, and patient education.
• Manage outpatient referrals and participate in Heart Team discussions for valve and structural heart patients.
