Job summary

The American Heart Association is seeking a Science and Medicine Advisor (SMA) to guide physicians, scientists and allied health volunteers in developing scientific statements, guidelines, and educational programs. This role partners with internal teams to translate cardiovascular science into policy, patient programs, and public communications.

Based in the National Center with a Dallas, TX base or home-based arrangements, the SMA leads review of literature, coordinates volunteer efforts, and

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in cardiovascular science or related field.
• Doctoral degree preferred.
• 3 years professional adult cardiology clinical experience; 8 years preferred.
• Superior writing & communication skills with publication history.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with volunteers, staff and the public.
• Ability to travel overnight ~25%.

Responsibilities

• Guide and partner with science volunteers in the creation of statements, advisories, guidelines, and programs.
• Provide consultation and approval on science aspects to internal staff for programs, publications, and websites.
• Review content for Association professional websites and products.
• Synthesize and explain current science to lay professionals and internal staff.

Education

Graduate degree in cardiovascular science or related field

Doctoral degree preferred
