Job summary

The American Heart Association is seeking a Science and Medicine Advisor (SMA) to guide science volunteers and shape expert statements, guidelines, and educational programs.

You will work with clinicians and researchers, review content for websites and publications, and translate complex science for internal staff while traveling up to 25%.

This role combines clinical knowledge with nonprofit mission impact in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Professional adult cardiology clinical experience required; 3+ years, 8 years preferred.
• Strong writing and publication history in peer-reviewed journals.
• Ability to manage high-level volunteers (domestic and international).

Responsibilities

• Guide and partner with science volunteers in the creation of scientific statements, advisories, guidelines, conference programming, and mentoring experiences.
• Provide consultation and approval on science aspects to internal staff for programs, publications, and public-facing materials.
• Review content for Association websites and products.
• Synthesize and explain current state of science to lay professionals and internal staff.
