Job summary

The American Heart Association is seeking a Science and Medicine Advisor (SMA) for the National Center in Dallas, TX (home-based is acceptable). You will guide science volunteers and work with internal teams to develop scientific statements, guidelines, and educational programs.

An experienced clinician with strong writing and communication skills will lead efforts to translate complex cardiovascular science into accessible materials and public-facing resources, with travel about 25% required.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree and clinical experience from cardiovascular care (RN/MD/NP/PA). Doctoral degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Guide science volunteers (clinicians, researchers, scientists) in creating scientific statements, advisories, guidelines, and programs.
• Provide consultation and approvals on science aspects to internal staff for public and professional programs, publications, and materials.
• Review content for Association websites and products with science implications.
• Synthesize and explain current state of science to lay professionals and internal staff.
