Job summary

The American Heart Association is seeking a Science and Medicine Advisor (SMA) for the National Center, based in Dallas, TX, with home-based option. The SMA guides science volunteers, helps develop statements, guidelines, and educational programs, and supports public-facing materials with clinical and research insights.

You will review and synthesize current science, advise staff, manage multiple projects, and travel about 25% as needed.

Qualifications

• MD/DO/NP/PA with graduate degree; doctoral degree preferred.
• Minimum of three years adult cardiology clinical experience; eight years preferred.
• Superior writing & communication skills with a publication history in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with volunteers, staff and the public.

Responsibilities

• Guide and partner with science volunteers in creating scientific statements, advisories, guidelines, and programs.
• Provide consultation and approval on science aspects to internal staff for programs, publications, websites, and communications.
• Review content for Association professional websites and products.
