Job description

Sentara CarePlex Hospital is currently hiring a Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist in Hampton, VA.

This is a full-time, day shift position that requires on-call with a 30-minute response time.

Hours

• Monday – Friday: 7am-3:30pm, with approximately 15 days of call per month (about every 3rd or 4th weekend).

Overview

A Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist, often referred to as a Cath Lab Technologist, is a healthcare professional specializing in assisting physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. This role involves working closely with patients, physicians, and other healthcare team members to provide high-quality care, ensuring the safety and accuracy of procedures.

Under the supervision of a qualified physician, the technologist utilizes specialized equipment to assist in cardiac and vascular procedures, aiding in accurate diagnosis and/or optimal treatment of congenital or acquired heart disease while maintaining patient safety and comfort. Responsibilities include performing and reviewing baseline patient assessments, evaluating patient responses during procedures, and providing patient care in the cardiac catheterization laboratory. The technologist also acts as a first assistant during diagnostic and therapeutic catheterizations.

Education

• Graduate of a diploma, associate's, or bachelor's health sciences program (including but not limited to cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing) or a licensed/certified EMT or paramedic.

Certification/Licensure

• BLS; ACLS required within 90 days of hire.
