Overview:

Sentara CarePlex Hospital is currently hiring a Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist in Hampton, VA. This is a full-time, day shift position and requires "on-call" with a 30-minute response time.

Hours
  • Monday - Friday: 7am-3:30pm, along with approximately 15 days of call per month (about every 3rd or 4th weekend).
Role Description

A Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist, often referred to as a Cath Lab Technologist, is a healthcare professional specializing in assisting physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. This role involves working closely with patients, physicians, and other healthcare team members to provide high-quality care and ensure the safety and accuracy of procedures.

In this role, the technologist utilizes specialized equipment and, under the direction of a qualified physician, assists in the performance of cardiac and vascular procedures. The goal is to achieve accurate diagnosis and/or optimal treatment of congenital or acquired heart disease while maintaining maximum patient safety and comfort. Responsibilities include performing and reviewing baseline patient assessments, evaluating patient responses during procedures, providing patient care in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, and acting as a first assistant during diagnostic and therapeutic catheterizations.

Education
  • Graduate of a diploma, associate's, or bachelor's health sciences program (including, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing) or a licensed/certified EMT or paramedic.
Certification/Licensure
  • BLS; ACLS required within 90 days of hire.
