Job summary

The University of Virginia Health System is seeking a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CIS) Clinician 1 in Charlottesville. This entry-level role supports cardiac cath and EP labs, focusing on safe patient care and growth in skills as a scrub and circulator under physician supervision.

Units handle diverse cases including coronary angiograms, pacemaker/ICD insertions, ablations, and pediatric procedures.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited formal medical education program such as CVT, EMT, Paramedic, Radiography, Respiratory Therapy, Sonography, or Associate’s Degree or greater in a Health Sciences related field.
• Experience: Clinical patient care experience, 2 years or more strongly preferred.
• Licensure: American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support certification required.
• Preparing for certification in ACLS, with manager discretion.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for performing specialized technologist roles within the invasive cardiovascular procedure setting.
• Operates specific high technology equipment under the direction of a qualified physician to assist with procedures performed on patients which lead to the diagnosis and treatment of congenital and acquired heart and peripheral vascular disease.
• Ensures imaging system for procedures is appropriately operated under the direct supervision of an authorized physician user of radiation emitting imaging equipment.
• Assists lab team with management of critical care and other complex patients.
• Demonstrates initiative and motivation by seeking opportunities for learning and development
• Contributes to successful operation of the department
• Accepts coaching / mentoring from others; open to constructive feedback, active listener
• Familiarizes self with mission statement and ASPIRE values
• General understanding of procedural protocols and resources
• Familiarizes self with department and organizational policies
