Job summary

University of Michigan in Ann Arbor is seeking an Advanced Practice Professional (NP or PA) for the Cardiovascular ICU Advanced Practice Team. The role covers acutely ill post-surgical CVICU patients under physician supervision, including Cardiac, Vascular and Thoracic procedures. Night/day rotations and weekend/holiday coverage are required.

Applicants must hold Michigan RN licensure and NP/PA certification, with recent ICU experience. ADEA and ACLS are required, and credentialing is involved.

Qualifications

• Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan.
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program; certification recognized by NCSBN.
• Recent ICU experience in acutely ill post-surgical Cardiac/Thoracic patients; ACLS required.

Responsibilities

• Under physician supervision, coordinates care of acutely ill post-surgical Adult/Late Adult patients in Cardiac Surgery ICU.
• Perform advanced diagnostic and therapeutic tasks for Cardiac, Vascular and Thoracic procedures.
• Collect histories/physicals, interpret lab/radiology, order tests and prescribe medications.
• Assist in orientation of new residents and maintain continuity of care; document patient status and treatments.
• Coordinate transfer/discharge planning and support research initiatives in CVICU.
