Job summary

University of Michigan is seeking a Unit-Based Temporary Advanced Practice Nurse (NP/PA) to join the Cardiac Intensive Critical Care Area in the D. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion.

The APP will work under physician supervision and manage adult cardiovascular ICU patients with complex conditions. Responsibilities include history taking, orders, documentation, and coordination of care with the cardiology team.

Qualifications

• > Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in Michigan.
• > Current specialty certification as Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP.
• > Graduate of an accredited NP program.
• > Certification as NP by NCSBN.
• > Current DEA registration
• > AHA BLS and ACLS certified
• > 3-5 years APP ICU experience
• > Current Michigan PA license
• > NCCPA certification
• > ARC-PA/CAHEA/CAAHEP accredited PA program completion
• > State of Michigan Controlled Substance License
• > Current DEA registration
• > AHA BLS and ACLS certified
• > 3-5 years APP ICU experience

Responsibilities

• Directs and coordinates care in the cardiac intensive critical care area under physician supervision.
• Responsible for primary Code Team Coverage in the Pavilion.
• Order tests and prescribe medications; interpret diagnostic tests.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure safe handoffs across care teams.
• Collaborate with attending physicians and other providers to coordinate patient care.
• Perform procedures including arterial lines, central venous catheters, and NG tube placement.
• Demonstrate clinical leadership and provide education to team members.
• Ensure compliance with policies, safety guidelines and professional standards.
