Qualifications

• A board-certified Physician Assistant in good standing and credentialed by the Texas Medical Board with Prescriptive Authority and minimum 1 year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting with proficiency in endoscopic and open conduit harvest.
• Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance.
• Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations.
• Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team.
• Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Operating Room assistance for cardiovascular procedures in the operating room.
• Obtains patient history and performs assessment, orders and interprets diagnostic studies, and conducts health assessments.
• Delivers direct treatment and manages conditions via prescriptive authority or referrals.
• Counsels and educates patients and families about health conditions and treatment options.
• Documents care delivery per specialty standards and participates in staff and student education.
• Performs other related functions as assigned.
