Job summary

Dell Medical School seeks a board-certified Physician Assistant to support expansion of cardiovascular services by diagnosing and treating adult cardiovascular and thoracic conditions, mainly in the operating room. You will obtain histories, perform assessments, order and interpret studies, provide prescriptive care or referrals, counsel patients and families, and document care.

Must hold Texas Medical Board licensure with Prescriptive Authority and have at least 1 year of cardiothoracic first

Qualifications

• Board-certified Physician Assistant with Prescriptive Authority and 1+ year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
• Capable of collaborating with physicians and a multidisciplinary team.
• Equivalent education/experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the cardiovascular operating room, supporting surgical teams.
• Obtain patient history and perform assessments, order and interpret diagnostic studies.
• Provide direct treatment and management via prescriptions or referrals to other providers.
• Counsel patients and families about health conditions and treatment options.
• Document care and nursing processes in compliance with specialty standards.
• Participate in orientation and education of staff and students.
