Job summary

Dell Medical School is seeking a Physician Assistant to expand individualized healthcare services by diagnosing and treating adult cardiovascular and thoracic conditions in collaboration with supervising physicians.

The role includes assisting in the cardiovascular operating room, performing assessments, ordering and interpreting studies, and managing patient care with prescriptive authority. Team-based care and patient education are emphasized throughout the duties.

Qualifications

• Board-certified Physician Assistant with Prescriptive Authority and minimum 1 year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance.
• Capacity to work with a multidisciplinary healthcare delivery team.

Responsibilities

• Operating Roombased Physician Assistants will primarily work assisting in the cardiovascular operating room.
• Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview, and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies.
• Provides direct treatment and management of conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
• Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning health conditions, treatment options and community resources.
• Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy.
