Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.
• No experience required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 6 months unless exempt.

Responsibilities

• Provides for a clean, safe and efficient area conducive to optimal patient care, maintaining aseptic technique and passing instruments.
• Performs a range of procedures and maintains knowledge of various procedures.
• Ensures OR disinfection, safety and efficiency, setups the room and operates equipment during procedures.
• Functions as Second Assistant as needed.
• Notifies staff of equipment and supply problems.
• Transports patients and equipment.
• Maintains specialty carts and checks equipment condition and sterility.
• Performs patient positioning and transporting with proper technique.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate care knowledge and assessment skills.
