Job summary

St. David's HealthCare's RN Residency Program at St. David's South Austin Medical Center offers a year-long, hands-on transition from nursing student to registered nurse. It provides a supported learning environment with nurse educators, preceptors, and peers to grow clinical skills and critical thinking.

The program includes advanced clinical training, monthly education, mentorship, and projects to apply evidence-based practice, with Spring 2027 and Med Surg as available specialties.

Qualifications

• BLS within 30 days of employment is required.
• ACLS obtained within 1 year of employment.
• Nursing degree from an accredited program is required.
• RN license or Graduate Nurse in the state.
• No prior nursing experience is required for the RN Resident role.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver high-quality patient-centered care per department standards.
• Perform procedures, monitor patients, and document care in the medical record.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor responses.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatment plans, and follow-up.
