Job summary

St. David’s Medical Center in Austin offers a comprehensive RN Residency for new graduates, transitioning from student to professional nurse through clinical rotations, preceptorship, and classroom learning.

Participants provide direct patient care, document in the EHR, and work with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced acute care setting, supported by ongoing coaching, simulation, and professional development.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas or eligibility for licensure by start date.
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred or obtained after hire.
• Completion of accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care in an RN residency setting.
• Perform patient assessments and monitor clinical status.
• Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapy as ordered.
• Document in the EHR accurately and timely.
• Collaborate with physicians and the care team on plans.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses and discharge instructions.
• Adhere to infection control and safety policies.
• Participate in classroom education, simulations, and labs.
• Engage in feedback from preceptors to improve practice.
• Support quality and patient experience initiatives.
