Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas seeks a perfusionist to support, treat, measure, and supplement cardiopulmonary and circulatory function under general supervision. The role involves coordinating with surgeons, preparing bypass equipment, and ensuring patient safety throughout complex procedures.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, perfusion program graduate, and licensure/certification in perfusion with or without eligibility, plus BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in allied health or related field and perfusion program graduate.
• No prior experience required.
• ABCVP certification or eligible; Texas perfusion licensure requirements; BLS certification through AHA.

Responsibilities

• Consult with physician on equipment and techniques to be used during procedures.
• Set up heart-lung machine for surgeons; operate bypass equipment.
• Prepare life support system as dictated by cardiac surgery staff.
• Conduct bypasses for heart surgeries and liver transplants.
• Maintain equipment; perform routine functionality checks.
• Research topics and unusual cases to provide current treatment.
• Maintain adequate inventory of supplies.
• Assist with laboratory research projects.
• Give in-services for students and residents.
• Administer medications and blood components via extracorporeal circuits.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in an allied health field, perfusion, or related scientific field, and graduate of an accredited Perfusion program
