Job summary

Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC is seeking a Nursing Care Assistant for the Cardiology Stepdown unit on Nights. You will support RNs and LPNs by providing direct patient care, assisting with daily living activities, and maintaining a safe, clean environment.

Candidates should have current Nursing Assistant certification and be prepared to perform procedures, monitor vital signs, and document in the electronic health record.

Qualifications

• Pre-employment Physical Capacity Testing may be required.
• Nursing Assistant I (NA I) certification with NC DHHS.
• BCLS certification must be maintained/completed by end of orientation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients, equipment and supplies for procedures and provide assistance as needed.
• Take and record vital signs; monitor patient condition and report changes.
• Assist with activities of daily living and patient comfort.
• Support RN/LPN with procedure setup, positioning and non-sterile dressings.
• Document care provided in the electronic health record and communicate with team.
