Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant to support cardiology clinics. You will perform patient care, assist with procedures, take vital signs, and support clinical, environmental, and organizational tasks in a fast-paced setting.

You will handle clerical duties, charting, and EMR updates while ensuring infection control and patient safety. BCLS and a high school diploma are required; cardiology experience is a plus, with opportunity for growth within Penn Medicine.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant PSV Manual (Required)
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
• H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
• Education Specialization: Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution (Equivalent Experience)
• One year of recent experience in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or externship in a medical office; experience in cardiology (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned
• Checking schedules and organizing patient flow
• Accompanying patients to exam/procedure room
• Assisting patients with walking transfers, dressing, preparing for exam
• Performing EKGs, vital signs (manual), venipuncture, and injections
• Collecting patient history
• Performing screenings per provider guidelines
• Assisting providers/nurses with various procedures
• Charting
• Relaying instructions to patients/families
• Answering calls and providing pertinent information
• Understanding patient education needs and communicating with patients and families
• Fulfills clerical responsibilities (sending/receiving patient records, obtaining lab/x-ray reports, etc.)
• Completing forms/requisitions and pre-certifications/prior authorizations
• Managing and updating EMR to ensure information is complete
• Fulfills environmental responsibilities (setting up instruments, cleaning rooms, restocking supplies)
• Fulfills organizational responsibilities (respecting patient rights, responding to emergencies)
