Job summary

MedStar Health in Annapolis is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform clinical and administrative duties in an ambulatory care setting under supervision. The role includes venipuncture, vaccine administration, vital signs, and assisting providers with exams and clerical tasks.

The position may float to other sites within the system; requires excellent customer service and patient interaction skills and completion of an accredited MA program. Cardiology experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• 6 months of ambulatory care experience required or externship preferred.
• Cardiology offices: 6 months experience or related degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to policies and safety standards.
• Assists with patient preparation, exams, and education; supports the care team.
• Screens patients for preventative care needs and barriers to care.
• Performs point-of-care testing and basic clinical procedures as directed.
• Document patient activities in the EMR accurately and timely.
• Floats to other sites within the system as needed.
