Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join the Cardiology practice in Baltimore. The role involves clinical and administrative duties under physician/provider supervision, including venipuncture, vaccines, vital signs, and assisting with patient exams.

The position may float to other sites within the system. The ideal candidate has MA training, CPR and CMA/RMA certifications preferred, with strong customer service and documentation skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Less than 1 year (6 months) experience in ambulatory care required; externship preferred.
• Cardiology-specific experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient examinations and preparations; support clinical care team.
• Perform venipuncture, vaccines, and measurements; document in EMR.
• Screen patients for preventative care needs and safety concerns during visits.
• Provide clerical support and act as backup for Patient Services Coordinator.
• Conduct point-of-care testing and basic laboratory activities per site requirements.
• Document activities in EMR and coordinate follow-up and referrals.
