Job summary

Methodist Health System seeks a Patient Representative to greet, register and schedule patients, while verifying insurance benefits and updating patient demographics. You will serve as a liaison between patients and clinical support staff in a busy office setting.

The role requires strong communication, familiarity with medical terminology and basic data entry, with routine interactions across billing and reception tasks.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Strong communication skills with judgment and discretion.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and coding preferred.
• Previous two years in a front office using medical management software preferred.
• Previous typing or data entry at 40 wpm.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.
• Check-in patients and verify/update demographic and insurance information.
• Register new patients and verify all addresses, phone numbers and insurance details.
• Answer phones, screen calls, take messages and convey information to appropriate parties.
• Maintain neat and orderly reception and work areas.
• Assist Practice Manager with problems and concerns in the Front Office.
• Attend educational and staff meetings as scheduled.
• Input daily balances of charges and receipts as assigned and follow policies.
