These duties are to be performed in a highly confidential manner, in accordance with the mission, values and behaviors of Insight Hospital and Medical Center. Employees are further expected to provide a high quality of care, service, and kindness toward all patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and guests.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Greet patients warmly upon arrival. Collect and verify patient information and insurance details. Enter accurate data into the electronic health record system (Cerner) and create encounters in STAR.
Schedule patient appointments for diagnostic exams, and follow-up visits.
Manage appointment calendars to optimize physician and clinic efficiency.
Coordinate rescheduling and cancellations as needed.
Verify insurance prior to the appointment.
Answer incoming patient calls promptly and professionally.
Provide information regarding clinic services, appointment times, and preparation instructions.
Relay patient messages to physicians and medical assistant in a timely manner using EMR messaging system.
Support daily clinic operations with clerical tasks as assigned.
Assists in ensuring that all billing encounter forms are accurate and consist of all services provided.
Participates in Quality Improvement activities as directed.
Participates in continuing education programs and all assigned meetings.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
A. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge:
Knowledge of commonly utilized confidentiality requirements required.
Knowledge of universal precautions preferred.
Two or more years experience in an ambulatory setting preferred.
Experience with electronic documentation and retrieval of patient information preferred.
