Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Cardiologist to deliver comprehensive care across ambulatory and inpatient cardiology services in the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System.

You will lead clinical care, supervise trainees, and participate in programmatic initiatives, with a focus on evidence-based practice and patient-centered outcomes. Responsibilities include ordering diagnostics, documenting in CPRS, and coordinating care with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • US citizenship due to VA policy
  • Doctor of Medicine or equivalent in allopathic/osteopathic medicine
  • Full, unrestricted medical license in the United States
  • Residency in an approved core cardiology program leading to board eligibility
  • Board certification or eligibility process described by VA standards
  • English proficiency in speaking and writing

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive cardiology care for ambulatory and inpatient patients
  • Order and interpret diagnostic studies (labs, EKGs, imaging)
  • Document care in CPRS and maintain accurate medical records
  • Educate patients and families on prevention and treatment options
  • Participate in quality improvement and committee activities
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
