Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required; board certification in Cardiology essential.
  • Full unrestricted Licensure in any U.S. State is mandatory.

Responsibilities

Cardiologist Opportunity – Wilkes-Barre, PA VAMC – Up to 55 Days off Annually

The Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania VA Medical Center is seeking a full-time, board-certified/board-eligible Cardiologist to join our VA team. Responsibilities include treating and managing patients with General Cardiology and Supplemental Cardiac procedures. The role involves comprehensive care, including diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and patient education for Cardiac conditions.

Core Cardiology Procedures include:
  1. Cardiac stress testing
  2. Cardioversion
  3. Echocardiogram interpretation
  4. Holter monitor interpretation
  5. Pericardiocentesis (emergency)
  6. Temporary transvenous pacemaker placement
  7. Tilt table testing
  8. Use of thrombolytic agents
  9. Final Interpretation of EKGs
  10. Fluoroscopy
Supplemental Cardiology Procedures include:
  1. Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) with interpretation
  2. TEE with cardioversion
  3. Nuclear cardiology studies
  4. Coronary CTA
  5. Administration and management of Gp IIb/IIIa, vasoactive, and thrombolytic agents

The Non-Invasive Cardiologist will provide outpatient and inpatient consultative services within the Wilkes-Barre VA Healthcare System.

Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship (Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens are unavailable according to VA Policy)
  • Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration in any U.S. State
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiology
Office Hours:

8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday - Friday, with on-call as needed.
