Job summary

Palmdale Regional Medical Center in Palmdale, CA seeks an experienced Surgical Technician to support instrument maintenance, sterilization, anesthesia assistance, and OR turnover. You will ensure accurate counts, proper equipment assembly, and collaboration with the Charge Nurse for workflow optimization.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in the OR, 1+ year scrubbing cardio-thoracic cases, and holds Surgical Tech certification plus BLS.

Qualifications

Minimum of two years’ recent operating room experience as a Surgical Tech.
Minimum of one year experience first scrubbing for cardio-thoracic/coronary artery bypass surgery.
High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Assists in maintenance of instruments and supplies by proper cleaning, care, utilization and sterilization as required.
Instrument/equipment turnover for "to follow" cases is efficient and consistent with appropriate time frames.
Makes recommendations for procurement and maintenance of equipment.
Performs counts on all surgical procedures for instruments, needles and sponges according to policy.
Monitors sterilizer function, temperature, cycle completion and indicator tests.
Identifies malfunctioning sterilizers via test interpretation.
Assists in assembling instrument sets and signs set lists per protocol.
Communicates with Charge Nurse to revise preference cards.
Assist anesthesia with TEE probe, TEE machine, decontamination and processing.
