Job summary

Universal Health Services, Inc. seeks a Surgical Technician to support the OR team in Palmdale, CA. You will assist in instrument cleaning, sterilization, and set assembly, while ensuring accurate counts and smooth turnover for all procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ recent operating room experience as a Surgical Tech.
• Minimum 1 year experience first scrubbing for cardio-thoracic/coronary artery bypass surgery.
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Graduated from an accredited Operating Room Technician Program.
• National Surgical Technician certification, required.
• Current BLS certification from American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instrument and supply cleaning, care, and sterilization.
• Instrument turnover for following cases in a timely, policy-compliant manner.
• M ake recommendations for procurement and maintenance of equipment.
• Assist in counts of instruments, needles and sponges per policy.
• Monitor sterilizers: temperature, cycle completion and indicator tests.
• Identify malfunctioning sterilizers from test indicators.
• Assemble instrument sets and list missing items per protocol.
• Communicate with Charge Nurse for preference card revisions.
• Assist anesthesia with TEE probe, TEE machine, decontamination and processing.
