Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Louisiana seeks qualified allied health staff to support physicians in delivering comprehensive cardiovascular care. You will record vital signs, assist with exams, phlebotomy, EKGs, patient education, and EMR documentation in a fast-paced clinic setting.

The role offers cross-coverage across clinics, training resources, and opportunities for professional growth. LPN or CMA credentials with BLS are preferred, and a patient-centered approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Louisiana LPN license (required) with BLS (ACLS a plus)
• CMA/RMA/CCMA/NRCMA/NCMA certification with 400 cardiology hours
• Experience with EMR systems and accurate clinical documentation
• Proficiency in phlebotomy, EKGs, triage, injections, and assisting in diagnostic testing
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered focus
• Organized, adaptable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Committed to professional conduct, safety standards, and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

• Record and update vital signs, medical histories, medications, allergies, and patient concerns
• Assist physicians with exams, procedures, injections, EKGs, blood draws, and diagnostic preparations
• Provide clear patient education and post-visit instructions
• Document care and provider orders accurately in EMR
• Support cardiology clinics, pacemaker checks, and monitor setup
• Maintain clean, safe, and well-stocked clinical areas; complete weekly OSHA and safety checks
• Manage medical forms, supply ordering, and insurance pre-certifications
• Assist front office with scheduling, patient registration, insurance verification, and HIPAA compliance
• Respond to patient inquiries in person and by phone
• Collaborate across departments to facilitate timely care and accurate documentation
• Provide flexible support and cross-coverage to other clinics and team members
