Job summary

Greater Austin YMCA is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor to lead Cardio Dance Fit or Zumba classes. Responsibilities include ensuring participant safety, teaching proper techniques, and promoting the YMCA’s health initiatives.

The ideal candidate is at least 18, has a high school diploma or equivalent, holds relevant certifications (YMCA Group Exercise, Indoor Cycling, Zumba, or Les Mills), and can audition before teaching. Availability Tue/Thu mornings is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications in YMCA Group Exercise, Indoor Cycling, Zumba or Les Mills are required or preferred.
• Current First Aid/ CPR certifications preferred (obtained within 30 days of employment).

Responsibilities

• Teach Cardio Dance Fit or Zumba classes as scheduled.
• Ensure participant safety and maintain a clean, safe fitness area.
• Explain exercise benefits and YMCA programs to participants.
• Arrive early, set up equipment, and lead classes on time.
• Adhere to YMCA policies, report incidents, and seek substitutions as needed.
• Assist and guide participants to appropriate class level and difficulty.
