Job summary

Wellmark YMCA in Des Moines, IA, is seeking a part-time Group Exercise Instructor to design, plan, and lead cardio dance/group exercise classes. You will create an inclusive environment and help members engage with related Y programs, while maintaining safety and high standards.

Essential duties include demonstrating proper form, assisting with staff training, and ensuring devices and space are ready for class, with emphasis on safety and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Current certification in YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise or equivalent.
• Group Fitness Instructor certification from ACE, AFAA, NETA, or ACSM.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certifications completed prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, prepare, and instruct assigned group exercise classes.
• Create a welcoming and inclusive class environment.
• Promote member engagement by encouraging involvement in related Y programs.
• Lead members with professionalism and exercise expertise.
• Support staff training and orientation when needed.
