Job summary

NYU Grossman School of Medicine in Brooklyn is seeking a Cardiac/Vascular Sonographer to perform all cardiac and vascular ultrasound studies, including echocardiograms, treadmill and pharmacological stress tests, and duplex vascular studies.

The role requires adherence to NYU protocols and IAC/ACR standards, patient communication, and the ability to create preliminary reports and document scans. Lifting up to 150 pounds may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in a related field or completion of an accredited program in cardiac and vascular ultrasound.
• Registered with RDCS and RVT OR RCS and RVS; one cardiac & one vascular credential, with plan to obtain the other within 1 year.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Must maintain active registry status.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of NYU policies and protocols and incorporates them into duties.
• Performs all cardiac ultrasound studies including echocardiograms and stress echocardiograms.
• Performs all vascular ultrasound studies including carotid duplex and extremity studies.
• Adheres to NYU protocols and IAC/ACR standards.
• Provides patient comfort, explains procedures, and verifies patient identity.
• Creates a preliminary report and documents scans with pertinent data.
• Uses highly technical ultrasound equipment and alerts staff to abnormalities.
• Compares current studies with prior exams to monitor changes.
• Assists with accreditation documentation and submissions.
• Position may require lifting up to 150 pounds.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
