Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA seeks a Patient Care Technician for the Cardiac Unit on a part-time night shift (7:00pm–7:00am). The role includes patient care, vitals, mobility support, phlebotomy, EKG testing, specimen collection and catheter handling under RN supervision.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent and qualifying certifications (CNA, NCMA, NCPCT or Navy Hospital Corps) or current RN/LPN/RT/PT clinical participation. BLS within 90 days preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Certification options include CNA, NCMA, NCPCT or equivalent programs.
• EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT or Paramedic training is accepted.
• US Navy Hospital Corps School is acceptable.
• Current RN/LPN/RT/PT clinical program participation is permitted.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care and supports daily living activities.
• Monitors vital signs and reports changes to RN.
• Assists with mobility and ambulation.
• Performs phlebotomy, specimen collection, and point of care testing.
• Assists with EKGs and IV care as directed.
