Job summary

Saint Joseph Mercy Health System's Michigan Heart Clinic is seeking a Triage RN for a part-time, day shift to support cardiac patients. You will triage test results, educate patients, and coordinate with physicians while documenting in the EHR and maintaining patient rapport.

The role requires a Michigan nursing license, BCLS, and at least 3 years in cardiac nursing with arrhythmia recognition skills. ACLS may be required at regional sites.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Bachelors Degree preferred.
• Michigan license - Required.
• BCLS certification - Required.
• ACLS certification – Required in regional office locations if responsible for pharmacological stress testing.
• At least 3 years of cardiac nursing experience - Required.
• Demonstrates competence related to cardiac arrhythmia recognition - Required.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive triage and patient education.
• Acts as a liaison between patients, primary care physicians, and Michigan Heart physicians.
• Documents medical information in patient’s electronic health record.
• Reviews lab and test results and works collaboratively with a team assistant.
• Recognizes abnormal cardiac rhythms, vital signs and symptoms; reports abnormal findings to cardiologist and team.
• Assesses walk-in patients to determine need for visit or phone follow-up.
• Assists patients with obtaining authorization for medication and refills per protocol.
