Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Monitor Technician to perform continuous cardiac monitoring, interpretation and reporting for patients within Patient Care Services. The incumbent will work under the Nurse Manager and respond to emergent needs with clinical judgment.

Qualified applicants will have specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-05, with duties including assisting RNs, observing patients, and documenting vital signs and patient conditions for timely intervention.

Qualifications

• Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous cardiac surveillance, interpretation and reporting of monitor and telemetry tracing for patients in Patient Care Services.
• Recognize changes in a patient's condition and assess the need for intervention which may be emergent.
• Assist RNs with patient care as directed and communicate patient needs to the assigned RN or Charge Nurse.
• Answer call lights and assist or communicate needs when unable to independently assist.
• Measure and record blood pressure, respirations, oral and axillary temperature, weight, and pulse.
