Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Inc. seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Cardiac Surgery team in inpatient care. The role reports to the Clinical Manager APP Cardiac Surgery Clinical Inpatient and the Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery. License in Massachusetts is required.

The NP/PA will manage pre and postoperative duties, perform invasive procedures, and coordinate discharge planning while collaborating with surgeons and staff across CCU, CVICU, and related units.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required.
• NP/PA license in Massachusetts required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• 3–5 years related work experience preferred.
• Experience with highly acute patients on a surgical service is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Participate in preoperative evaluation and postoperative care of cardiac surgical patients.
• Perform invasive procedures as directed (central lines, chest tubes, arterial lines, pacing wires).
• Discharge patients with appropriate summaries and communication with cardiology/PCP.
• Educate patients and families and coordinate care with surgical teams.
• Work in CCU, CVICU, MICU and related units under supervision.
