Job summary

Advocate Health Care in Charlotte, NC seeks a skilled Exercise Physiologist to join our Cardiology team. You’ll perform diagnostic testing, educate patients, and help develop personalized exercise programs to improve cardiovascular health.

The role requires ACSM certification, BLS, ACLS within 6 months, and a Bachelor’s in Exercise Physiology. This is a full-time, 40-hour/week position with varying shift locations across metro Charlotte.

Qualifications

• Education Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology required.
• Certification / Registration / License Exercise Physiologist by ACSM or eligible.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire date.
• Additional certifications may be required by the department.
• If performing stress tests, completion of exercise physiology competencies required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and performs exercise and/or pharmacological stress testing following standards/guidelines.
• Assess the patient for contraindications to cardiac stress testing.
• Coordinates care with ordering provider or Cardiologist.
• Explains the procedure, verifies the order, and confirms patient identity.
• Assists with transferring patients and positioning for safety and performance.
• Recognizes ECG changes and arrhythmias to ensure diagnostic info is obtained safely.
• Communicates abnormal results to physician and staff.
• Responds to emergencies professionally and promptly.
• Cross train with related staff as needed.
