Job summary

Atrium Health Cardiology is seeking an Exercise Physiologist to support a variety of diagnostic and stress testing procedures across the greater Charlotte, NC area. The role focuses on exercise testing, patient education, risk factor modification, and developing individualized exercise programs to improve cardiovascular health and quality of life in a patient-centered setting.

Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology, BLS, and ACLS within six months of hire;

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology is required.
• ACSM-CEP (Clinical Exercise Physiologist) is preferred, required for stress testing.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers from AHA is required.
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
• Stress testing may require pharmacological stress testing competencies.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and performs exercise and/or pharmacological stress testing following ACSM/AHA/ACC standards.
• Assess patient for contraindications to cardiac stress testing and coordinate with ordering provider or Cardiologist.
• Explain the procedure, verify the order, and confirm patient identity.
• Assist with transferring patients and positioning for safety and performance.
• Recognize ECG changes and arrhythmias pre-, during, and post-test to ensure diagnostic information.
• Communicate abnormal results to physician and nursing/operations staff.
• Respond to emergencies promptly and professionally.
• Cross-train with related staff when needed.
