Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to perform a range of echocardiographic studies across adult and, when applicable, neonatal and adolescent patients. The role emphasizes patient-centered care, coordination with physicians, and adherence to departmental and hospital objectives.

The ideal candidate will have an associate degree or certificate in Cardiac Sonography, 1 year of echocardiography experience, and registry/certification within six months, plus BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate Degree in Allied Health or Certificate from an accredited Cardiac Sonography Program (required).
• Experience: 1 year Echocardiography experience or equivalent (required).
• Licensure: Cardiac Sonographer registry required within six months of employment (ARDMS or CCI) (required).
• Certification: American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (required).

Responsibilities

• Performs transthoracic echocardiograms (2D, 3D, M-Mode, Doppler, Color Flow, Strain).
• Performs stress echocardiograms.
• Performs contrast enhanced echocardiograms.
• Assists with transesophageal echocardiograms (Depending on facility).
• Performs patient assessment.
• Performs quality control.
• Performs cardiac stress testing (Depending on facility).
• Performs EKG's, and places Holter monitors.
• Performs equipment cleaning and maintenance.
• Provides patient, family, hospital staff, and physician education.
